So called in memory of Dr. Clarence Gandy (Former Grissom High School Choral Director) and established in 2007, the Clarence Gandy Scholarship Award is funded by donations. Progenitor of this award is Dr. Gandy's wife, Mrs. Carmelita S. Gandy (Retired, HCSCDA). It is awarded to one male and one female high school student who has proven excellence in choral singing by audition and have demonstrated a commitment to school choir through leadership, extended study and community participation. Recipients also must plan to continue choral music at the collegiate level. The award does not have to be given in each category each year, if student competencies do not meet judging standards. Awards are given to members of the same gender only in the event of a tie vote.

Middle School Outstanding Choral Student Award

Awarded to two 8th grade students who have stated intent to continue choral studies at the high school level, have passed a vocal audition and have built a substantial resume of choral experience. Students also must be recommended by their choral director and be in good standing with their school.

HCSCDA Hall of Fame Award

Established in 2007 to honor choral directors who have retired from the Huntsville City Schools system with distinction and have served in choral music education for a minimum of 15 years. Additionally, recipients of this award must have a consistent record of active participation with the HCSCDA Choral Festival as well as Alabama district- and state-level choral activities.
